About the Site and the Webmaster

Howdy, I'm Atlas, or DOOMVEGA! I make things on the internet, including websites. It seems you've found one of those websites. Welcome in!

So what's the site all about?

The Testing Range is a site I made to develop and play with layouts. I noticed a lack of layouts that were made with Neocities in mind, as well as responsive layouts (so many people use their phones to browse the web now!) so I decided to take matters into my own hands and learn to make layouts myself. I also noticed that it was very hard for me to read some of the CSS and HTML in some of the layouts I've gathered over the years, and I wanted to provide people with clean, sleek CSS and HTML.

I'm by no means a "professional" webdev, but this is a passion of mine and my goal is to make it more accessible to everyone.

Why the name Testing Range?

Yes, I hear that question often. My brother Anoriath and I came up with it one night after... no, I'm just joking. Testing Range comes from a page I make for all my sites to test all sorts of updates before I roll them out to the rest of the site. It just felt right to name a site that's dedicated to hosting layouts after those pages. Seriously, every website I've made has one. They usually display everything a good testing page needs— headers, dividers, divs, tables (if the site calls for them), and lots of Lorem Ipsum. Sometimes I build elements there, like new divs or weird tables, then add them to whatever pages need them.

Who's DOOMVEGA?

I'm DOOMVEGA! As I said, I make things on the internet. I'm a trans and queer artist, developer, musician... the list goes on. You can read about my projects over on my main website if you'd like to learn more about that.

Making websites is something that seemed nearly impossible to me a few years ago. I was trapped on Tumblr with nowhere to go, nothing to call my own... then one rabbit-hole lead to another and I found Neocities. From then on I knew that being a webmaster was something I loved doing, and those who know me can attest— something I wanted everyone to try. It looks weird and complicated and downright hard from the outside, but it's just as easy as writing into a document once you have your site figured out.

Make things, and share them with other people.
